Day 9, 26 Dec 09 - Sendai

Took the 0905 train from Ueno to Sendai. Sendai is located at the Tohoku region which we thought it will be cold however it wasn't.

Senzansen showing us the different attractions of Sendai

Had our breakfast on the train, from sandwiches and bread bought from station. Reached Sendai at around 1100 and we headed to Mitsui Shopping Outlet. Took Senzansen from Sendai to Nakanosakae (where outlet was located) and a 15min walk away from the station.

15 mins walk from the Nakanosakae station

We lost our way initially until the Ferris wheel pointed us where the outlet was.

Glad to find Lesportsac bags for offer (50%, 70%) and got myself 2 bags. Spent about $160 on the 2 bags, where in Spore it was much more expensive.

While waiting for our train

We just couldn't find the time to look for the statue of famous Sendai feudal lord, Date Masamune (1567-1636)

After much shopping, we moved off back to Sendai station (taking subway to Koutoudai Kouen station) and went to the Sendai Pageant of Starlight (aka tree-lined boulevard with lighting) where they had Xmas decorations and a fun-fair at Jozenji-dori.

Shopping around Sendai Station

Subway to Koutoudaikouen - They are well-fenced up

Lights were lit up at 6pm, all at once. It was pretty phenomenal.

Giant Xmas tree. Sorry, the camera's shaky.

Finally..... food! I love to try out the snacks of Sendai!

Bananas coated with chocolate

A temporary ice-skating rink

Bought some snacks at the fair and headed back to station again.

Took the 2026 Shinkansen back to Ikebukro.

....... to be continued in Day 10
