Day 7, 24 dec 09

Nikko

Left Niigata city for Nikko early in the morning, took shinkansen from Niigata station to Omiya first then transfered to Utsunomiya, by shinkansen again. Lastly, took the Nikko line. Deposited our huge luggages inside the train station lockers.

Reached Nikko around 1120am and found the shuttle bus to Edo Wonderland had left.

Tobo Nikko line Station. Unfortunately, it was a distance away from the JR Nikko Station

Ended up buying the Nikko tour ticket at Tobo Nikko Station by taking a short tour to all the famous temples (aka world heritage) of Nikko.

Tired and cold while walking too much.

I like Nikko. But visiting the temples after a long train ride isn't that enjoyable.

It had been snowing a little last night.

A World Heritage Site

The 3 famous stupid monkeys of Nikko

Had a light lunch at place near bus station before going into hotel. Nikko Green hotel is found near to the bus-stop, need to climb up a slope. Checked into the hotel, quite pleased with the rooms and hospitality. Outdoor onsen was a little small as compared to previous one, however was quite good as well. Water was a little hot but still quite ok.

A lovely scene outside the hotel

Nothing much to do in the hotel, dinner was good as well but not as plentiful as compared to Toei Yuzawa (Echigoyuzawa).

I think this was the only night which I slept like a baby. I owed that to the temple touring which had really wiped me out.
