This is a HORROR movie.

It doesn't contain gore or bloody scenes, but the thought of it made you felt sick and feeling betrayed. A young Polish girl by the name of Mariola was cheated by her boyfriend and was sold to the Marfia in Berlin as prostitute. It was a very very depressed movie and it made you cringed at the beginning of the movie till the end hoping she would find a way out in a stranger country.

The horror part was when she was being raped by those bastards (well only gestures of it made you sick in the stomach), she was locked in the flat for almost 2 days. She tried escaping from the windows and screaming at the top of her lungs but there was no one to help her because it was a vacant building. She even tried jumping down from the high floors, thinking she could escape in that way, but the level was too high for her. Either she were to break her legs or die and never to see her grandma in Poland ever. There was no food in the fridge, only water from the miserable tap.... or there was a piece of moulded bread and yes, she ate it because she was so hungry and wanted to gain the energy to run away. There were chances where she could run away, but she felt kind of indebted to one of the mafia guys who took care of her when she was bullied/beaten/sick.

I find German films (well Poland was next to Germany, does it count?) pretty depressing.... Well, thanks to Hitler and his tortures on the Jews. Prostitutions and human trafficking not only happened in 3rd World Countries but even in rich European continents. This film was just one of the stories. Somehow, it was compared to an earlier Russian movie "Lilya 4-Ever" which portrayed child prostitution in the Soviet Union. These are films which made you watch what you do not want to really see and feeling unbearably painful indeed.

Piece of Me

You want a piece of me? I'll give you two.

Haven been a smooth month. Firstly, the landlady had been secretly trying to sell her flat to some buyer and got caught in a law case. It's a long story anyway, she has been bothering me lately to help settle her issue. She wanted me to be witness in court that I did not receive any cheque and option to purchase from the buyer where the buyer sent over the very 2nd day we moved in. The recipient was my uncle who had been in th house helping out with the cleaning and both my brother and I were in office during the daytime. Blindly, he signed the receipt not understanding what the contents were and got us in pretty deep trouble. And when the parcel was passed back to the landlady, she found only a photocopy of the cheque inside, not a real cheque.

Anyway, that part was settled and I've explained to the landlady. And I gave her a piece of my mind that she was indeed unethical to be selling her flat considering we had just moved in. Her dishonestly had got herself into trouble, not us!!! However, the writ of summons (by the buyer) was against use, using us a the scapegoat of the deal to claim damages mentioned "Tenant" so she had consulted her lawyer that that proving us (tenant) was not around at the moment would help to close the issue.

It was pretty hard to believe in her again, I've seen the summons, and yes, it did mention abt us. The problem was she kept pestering us and reiterating the issue all over again over the phone when I was working... blar blar... and I just wished I had not rented the flat in the first place. In the begining, I did not think it was a good deal, the flat was old and some services were not in proper condition. And she kept mentioning that she trusted us we were good people, not any people who could bring "ah gao", "ah niao" into the house to party.... Come on, people need a life!!! We are good people, but we are not stupid people. I did not know what she meant in this sentence, probably she was just trying to play safe by warning us again not to sublet the flat to other people or have any visitors to come into the place which was in the agreement.

Just wish to get over this and start off again in another perspective.

Another thing is about a project group member who did nothing except to tell others of what to do. Getting so pissed off by his attitude and he was the type who kept things by himself, not wanting to discuss to bring out his ideas. Shall think twice when grouping with him next time.

Well, that's it.

My dear boy is in Australia now, missed him greatly. :-(
