Day 8, 25 dec 09

Nikko, Ikebukuro

Nikko

Rise and shine. I din realise it was Christmas! After checking out from Nikko Green Hotel, we headed towards Edo Wonderland. I wasn't very looking forward to this themepark as I've visited a similar one before in Hokkaido.

There's a free shuttle bus that brings you there. The journey takes about 30 minutes. The free shuttle bus from JR Nikko station comes at 1005, 1125 and 1350.

Even the bus uncle dresses up as samurai

Wasn't pinning too much hope on the themepark, Edo Wonderland in the first place. Found out that it was about the same as compared to the one in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido. Tickets cost 4,500 yen for adults.

Edo era streetscape

Outdoor performances

Indoor performance - The water magician

The mascot for Edo Wonderland. This guy never talks but gestures us to nearby performances going on.

The whole family played dressing up! (except the baby)

Parade showing the Geisha's day-out or something (for shopping?) She was wearing 10 inches "high-heels", definitely not the norm. The guy beside her supported her as they walked down the street.

We love being in this house where everyone can't seem to walk straight.

Finally, we boarded on the 1005 bus and went back at 1400 to go back Ikebukuro.

From Nikko to Ikebukuro: Took train from Tobu Nikko station and did a transfer at Shimoimaichi to Ikebukuro.

Did our last minute shopping at Ueno for tidbits as sis and Bro-in-law needs to get back spore the next day. Surprised to see so many different kinds of tidbits, cakes sold there. After our dinner at Ueno, we shopped for some anime goods nearby before heading back Ikebukuro.
