After a few months of holidays, I’m be back to school again.

This time round, I’m not stepping back into I****. (The school who promised us a degree in the final year, but due to certain circumstances, they are unable to confirm the course) Too bad, you’ve lost a customer. Most of my course-mates in I****went for the Double Major course in another school. Heard from them that they just need to study 10 modules (in 15 mths) to get the Degree in Marketing (Real Estate)

My matriculation date on 27 July 05 allowed me to explore further more the school whom I’ve failed to enrol in 1998. There was a welcome talk, and an introduction of CORS (bidding system for student) and the IVLE (an integrated virtual learning online system for discussions, notes, tutorials downloading, etc) Surprisingly, the welcome talk was merged with the full-time students, whom I see, youngsters with trendy clothes, tastefully coloured hair and noisy behaviour.

Other than the strange mix of students, I was terribly confused by the CORS, a bidding system which we need to log in to choose the subjects we need to study for it. Due to overwhelming system and response of some favourite modules and timings, we are give some credits to “place our bets” online in order to achieve our desired module time allocation. Something like going to a casino, but this time round, you got to pay up to study for that module.

For part-time students, we were only told to bid for the non-core subjects like Reading Visual Images and Ideas of & Approaches to Architecture. I was encouraged to take up these 2 modules for the 1st semester. The shortest time to complete the modules is 3.5 years, longest, up to 6 years. I was thinking of spreading out my modules so I won’t have the problem of “trying to catch up my breath” with the hefty fees.

The time-table is as follows.

Reading Visual Images – Monday 7-9 pm (to be combined with full-time students)
Urban Land Use & development – Tuesday 7 -10pm – Exams 21 Nov 05
Building Technology – Wednesday 7-10pm - Exams 22 Nov 05
Introduction to Statistics – Thursday 7-10pm – Exams 18 Nov 05
Ideas of & Approaches to Architecture – Fri 7-10pm – Exams 24 Nov 05

This means I’ll be grounded for the whole weekdays!!!

I’ve calculated. I need about $4,750 to pay for the first 5 modules. The train ride from Bugis to Clementi takes abt 40 minutes and the bus ride from Clementi Bus Terminal takes abt 15 mins. Which means I need about at least 1 hour to travel there! The coming back from school will be worse, takes abt 1 hr and 10 mins to reach home, provided the buses arrived promptly. Probably, I'll hitch a ride from one of my coursemates then. Oh well~ They dun look loaded anyway.

By the way, I’ll be 30+ if I finished the course successfully. Who will want to employ me then? How abt starting a family? (In deep thoughts now)
